How do I update DRS Rate Changes in Basic Payroll

Washington State DRS has published new PERS Employer rates for hours worked Starting September 1st, 2020.  Go to drs.wa.gov to stay current on any possible changes.

DRS hours are based on the hours worked not the paycheck date.  Make these changes after the final payroll for August hours has been completed.

All users will need to be updated manually after the final payroll for August hours.

Got to Payroll > Payroll Setup > Deduction Plans tab

PERS 1
  1. Find PERS 1 plan
  2. Highlight PERS 1
  3. Click Edit
  4. Update the Employer Portion (New rate is 0.1297)
  1. Click Save
  2. Click Update

The employee rate for PERS 1 did not change.  Only the employer portion needs to be updated.

PERS 2
  1. Find PERS 2 plan
  2. Highlight PERS 2
  3. Click Edit
  4. The Employee Portion remains 0.0790 - no change is needed
  5. Update the Employer Portion (New rate is 0.1297)
  1. Click Save
  2. Click Update
PERS 3
  1. Find PERS 3plan
  2. Highlight PERS 3
  3. Click Edit
  4. Update the Employer Portion (New rate is 0.1297)
  1. Click Save
  2. Click Update

The employee portion is an option that the employee selects at the time they are eligible for PERS.  Only the employer portion needs to be updated.
